Eleonora, the search for beauty through photography

BAO: WHAT IS YOUR ART? WHAT DO YOU WANT TO COMMUNICATE AND TRANSMIT?

Eleonora: My main art is photography, but I also create videos.

BAO: HOW IT STARTED, TELL US ABOUT EPISODES IN THE PAST RELATED TO YOUR PASSION AND YOUR ART.

Eleonora: My passion for photography has been with me since I was a child, since I used to watch my father take photos during our holidays around the world. I was fascinated by his search for interesting glimpses, hidden from the view of all the other passers-by and, as a result, I trained my eyes to look for beauty everywhere, and then I started to take photographs myself.

The turning point, however, came when I had to choose what to study after high school. After analysing various paths that I would have liked to take, I chose to study photography and video at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, in order to transform my passion into an in-depth path that would lead me to photography and video as a profession.

BAO: HOW DOES YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS COME ABOUT, WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

Eleonora: For me, the artist is someone who is inspired by the whole world around him, so people, stories, music, landscapes, emotions, films, other artistic works… everything is processed in the artist’s mind so that it is then transformed into art, in my case into images.

BAO: DIFFICULTIES YOU ENCOUNTER TODAY IN MAKING YOUR ART KNOWN AND WHAT YOU NEED

Eleonora: I feel that I am still at the beginning of my journey, so I think that with time my work will be more recognised, also because it will have matured with me.

I would like to see my photos exhibited in an art gallery or published in magazines, or even hung in a house or kept secretly in a diary. Thanks to Bao’s initiative, my work could reach homes, an idea that warms my heart even more than publication elsewhere.

BAO: HOW DO YOU THINK AUTHENTICITY RELATES TO ARTISTIC CREATION? HOW DO YOU EXPERIENCE IT IN YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS?

Eleonora: Authenticity is fundamental in artistic creation. It is the foundation, because the creative process itself is born in the depths of our own essence, which cannot be exchanged with someone else’s. I realise, however, that authenticity is the only way to create art.

I realise, however, that it is difficult to remain true to oneself without following the currents or paths of others. The challenge is therefore not to cross the line between inspiration from outside and betrayal of our own authenticity.
