Colours, shapes, illustrations and much more: this is Simona Alunni’s world.
BAO: How would you define your art? What do you want to communicate and transmit?
Simona: From geometric shapes to doodles, from animations to illustrations. I would define myself as a multidisciplinary artist. I like trying new things, experimenting, trying things out. I like to tell what’s on my mind in a fun and colourful way.
BAO: How did your passion come about?
Simona: Mine wasn’t a flash of lightning or a sudden illumination. It is a passion that has grown and continues to feed slowly. I’ve always drawn, I’ve always imagined worlds, it’s what we all do when we’re children, and as I grew up I realised that it makes me happy and it’s what I love to do.
BAO: How does your creative process come about? What inspires you?
Simona: The experiences I have every day, I like to go to exhibitions, I love cinema, sometimes I lose myself in the storyline, dwelling on small details.
There are days when creativity doesn’t even exist, those days I turn everything off and go for a walk. I let myself be inspired by nature, by the feelings I have in that moment. Music is definitely my biggest source of inspiration.
BAO: If there are any, what difficulties do you face today in making your art known? What would you need?
Simona: In the world we live in today, it’s not easy to get noticed, we are constantly bombarded by a thousand visual stimuli. I don’t know exactly what it takes to stand out, sometimes, in addition to skill, intelligence, there must also be a good stroke of luck :)
BAO: How do you think authenticity relates to artistic creation? How do you live it in your creative process?
Simona: I think authenticity is an absolute value, every person has their own story, different from everyone else. Taking inspiration and then reworking.
Each project can become a very powerful tool to define who we are, to express ourselves and above all to distinguish ourselves.
